When I asked them how they met, they shared a smile and began their story. They were that couple that just gradually fell into place…naturally. Their relationship comes across the same – naturally effortless. They are soooo in tune with each other. And they’re kind. And happy. And I especially love how they both share the same enthusiasm for looking at life like it’s an adventure.

You know that saying ‘ you had me at hello’? Well, that’s kinda how I felt about Devin when I first heard from her. Her voice messages were enthusiastic and happy, and her e-mails were written like a wonderful story you didn’t want to end. When Mike described her as a girl that ‘could light up a room’, he wasn’t kidding. She has this contagious energy that you can’t help but fall in love with. Devin is also my DIY wedding girl! Actually, I shared her fabulous ‘save the dates’ not to long ago here on the blog.

“There is no greater feeling than sharing new adventures…with someone you love,” Mike had written to me.
That got me thinking about adventures in general, and how new adventures do not have to mean going somewhere exotic. Sometimes life’s greatest adventures can be found in our own backyard. Maybe a living room picnic, or an impromptu joyride?
We are all not above being lulled into complacency. We become content with life, with our daily routine…with existing…and sadly sometimes not fully living. Vacations are not the only adventures we should be having. Adventures can be found when we jump into the car with no real destination. You know… driving with the the windows rolled down, listening to great music, singing along, taking in the scenery…and enjoying each others company?! The un-expected – makes every day feel like a breath of fresh air on this crazy ride called life.
Perhaps above and beyond finding the adventure is actually being the adventure. I think George Eliot said it best…
“Adventure is not outside man; it is within.”
Here is hoping that every single day is a lively little adventure…
I just love everything about you both!
Some golden light…
annnd this is why I love this couple. This wasn’t even prompted. They just got on the log and starting running.
Mike said the first thing he noticed about Devin was that her smile always met her eyes…
See what I mean about them being ‘in tune’ with one another?
Killer smiles…
The water was unusually high because of the monsoon we had earlier that morning…but the nice weather came strolling in just before we met up.
Rockin’ the boat…
I can’t even begin to tell you how I have enjoyed your company, and working with you both. Annnd we haven’t even gotten to the best part yet! : )
Thank you for making my heart happy, and sharing your spirit of living life like it’s an adventure. I almost forgot about what a real adventure was. I’m so grateful that you both reminded me!
