Good Company – Lea & Mike

 When I use to think of Long Island City I didn’t exactly think ‘charming’, BUT that was exactly what I found when I travelled there for an engagement session. Nestled in between the skyscrapers, bustling streets and water ways was Lea and Mike’s happy place in a gorgeous building directly over the Midtown tunnel.

We roamed the streets and made our way to Gantry Plaza. I expected brick and buildings, but what I saw instead were hammocks swinging in between make shift ‘tree’ poles and large wooden lounge chairs scattered by the waters edge for neighbors to soak up the sun or the view. Couples played chess at small tables, and an ice cream truck sat along the curb, while a summer concert was being held right in the main square.

It was the type of place that you could ‘people watch’ for hours.  The sights, and sounds added such personality and character to this perfect little ‘corner’ of Long Island.

I have lived in NY all of my life, and have never seen NYC the way I did that day.  I think it might have had a bit to do with the company I had. Lea and Mike’s laid back, easy going dispositions fit the surrounding vibe perfectly.

Here’s hoping that location really isn’t everything, and that perhaps the good company you keep is.

Thanks Lea and Mike for such a fabulous tour. It brightened up my week being in your company and your new home town.
