It's such a HUGE honor to work with talented creatives who are super passionate about their clients and their work.
What's even better?! When they bestow upon you the amazing honor to be there to document one of their happy milestones.
I'm going to be totally honest here. Lori from AvaFlora made me fall in love with flowers. Before seeing her creations, I'm embarrassed to say, they weren't something I normally would ogle at.
Oh, but to be within a few feet of Lori's designs is like seeing a work of art come to life. The variety of flowers, the petals, the structure, the leaves and hues she melts together make me swoon. I could spend hours admiring them now. I'm beyond grateful for her talent which made me appreciate floral decor on a whole other level.
Coordinating this wedding with our crazy schedules almost didn't happen, but Lori managed to plan the entire wedding within one month. ONE MONTH!!! Told you she was talented.
Surrounded by their closest family and friends, Michael and Lori (from AvaFlora) said forever on the North Fork of Long Island at one of the most charming boutique hotels, Jedediah Hawkins.
Below are a few photographs that I hope tell a little bit more about their day…
Jedediah Hawkins Inn sits on 22 luscious acres and it's impossible not to fall in love with her charm.
There is something about the North Fork that I just looove…
Getting ready…my favorite time of the day!
Classic pearls…
Adrienne from Ipanema Press creates the most visually stunning and tactile pieces of stationery ever.
I ADORE her and her amazing talent.
It's all in the details…
The hues and collage of petal shapes makes my heart happy.
Effortless, I swear.
Crazy talented, along with crazy beautiful.
Once the dress goes on, I love to kick everyone out of the room and let the bride catch her breath.
It's a great time to get a few relaxed portraits before the hoopla begins.
I looove the refined look of this boutonniere Lori designed. Simple, compact and tight to the lapel.
I find they work really well when the bride is shoulder height, so it doesn't compete too much with the bride during formals.
Lookin' pretty sharp Mike…
When working with a wedding planner it's crucial that they are flexible when working around tight timelines (as was the case with Lori and Mike's day).
Regina from Cloud Nove Events helped the day run smoothly with her relaxed demeanor. She stayed flexible and assessed the time-line situation often without compromising the couples experience, which was SO appreciated.
Love the way they look at each other…
A guick snuggle…
The flowers, weather and architecture are great little fun additions to include in your album design.
First time seeing each other on their wedding day.
In the fog and misty rain.
Romantic.
Moments in between…
I'm such a big fan of grey. All 50 shades of them ; )
How amazing are the crocheted shawls?! Such a great tactile texture against the chiffon.
Jedediah Hawkins Inn.
I could just go on and on about this special, hidden gem.
Once Lori and Mike introduced me to it, it was love at first sight.
I have been there many times since and every time I find something unexpected and charming to photograph.
Here is a peek at the sunroom that hosted their intimate reception.
So delightful and cozy!
One of my favorite aspects of the day was the piece below that Lori created. It was a tribute to Mike's Mom who had passed.
I loved that she was there in memory within the smiles and the stories of the guests that were in the room reminiscing while seeing the photographs.
First dance and toasts…
Love the free-form shape tulips take on. Delicate, lazy and unexpected.
I would be remiss not to post the subtle details that pulled off the clean, refreshing and elegant look of the tablescapes.
Sophisticated and whimsical. Such a paradox. That's what I ADORE about Lori's work.
Amazing that she was able to not only create the florals for her own wedding, but arrange them the morning of too!
The tulips greeted you at the door which draped and framed a hint of one of the centerpieces.
I'm smitten.
Sweet treats!!
happy…
The End.
