She brought her best friend to our first meeting. We sat for over two and half hours chatting about the upcoming wedding, and munching on lemon pound cake. Allison’s best friend was also married at the Thatched Cottage…39 years earlier. To her Dad.
My favorite kind of weddings are ones that are sentimental. The ones that revolve around family, relationships, love and the thoughtful details…just like Matt and Allison’s day did.

Best Friends. They are the person you call for every reason imaginable, or for no reason at all. Some of us get lucky having a few special ones through out our life, but the truly lucky ones go through life having them as our parents.
As parents we want the best for our children. The best education, the best health professionals. We worry, we wish, we pray that they will be blessed with what they need and that we can be in the position to help them get to where they want to go. Our ‘job’ is never really done. There is this intense responsibility, and a feeling that no one could ever love them or take care of them like we do.
And then one day it happens. They find love. They find contentment. They find that someone they can wake up next to for the rest of their lives. In sickness and in health…they will take care of one another. A best friend they can grow old with.
Allison found that best friend in Matt.
With a best friend like her mother he had a lot to be compared too, and even more to live up too.
I think it’s safe to say, she has the best of both worlds now.
Here is hoping that when you’re looking for the best in life…you don’t have to look further then across your kitchen table.
The dress…
Now, the tennis bracelet Matt gave Allison was pretty rockin’, but this was an even sweeter way to her heart…
Peek-a-boo eye-lashes.
Mademoiselle = “Little Lady”…who’s now all grown up.
Anticipation…
Oh…the details that go into preparation.
Tweezers = brilliant
Bustling is some serious work!

Somehow it doesn’t seem fair…
Random thought…remember when you were like five and your Mom/Dad would tie your shoes?
Sometimes instead of watching them tie the shoe, you would just watch their faces intently.
This shot reminds me of that for some reason.
Last minute touches…
“Something borrowed” was passed down through a few generations. Love that!
Seriously Allison….you’re just as beautiful inside as you are out.
And folks that is the color of her eyes. They are the most dreamiest shade ever.
I usually don’t post formals on the blog, but this situation was a little unique.
Allison asked her Mom to be her Matron of Honor.
That just makes my heart sooo happy!
I love a ceremony with an instrumental intro by flute, brass, violin or the piano.
It totally sets the mood, and you can’t help but get the chills.
Daddy’s little girl…
sighhh
As some of you know, this is my favorite part of the entire day.
I love the elated look right after the couple are announced as husband and wife.
The dreamy ‘golden hour’ light…
Happiness…
Let’s get this paaaarty started…
First dance…

A tender moment.
The groom with his father-in- law.
Mama’s boy!
