She sat on the 9 hour flight speaking to him in a broken Italian accent while he spoke to her in English. She was heading home after a vacation in Sicily, and he was leaving his folks and heading to the states to start a new life of opportunity. Little did he know that that conversation was the ‘opportunity’ of a lifetime.
I am smitten with them.
I love how they look at each other. I love how they laugh with one another. I adore how in sync everything about them is.
They are Rosario and Rosalia. Yes, even their names are cute.

Everyone has their own secret language. Ways to communicate beyond words, beyond looks…beyond having to explain what they mean. Our tone, and our actions speak volumes…maybe not to all…but most certainly to our significant other.
We know before they say a word what kind of mood they are in. We know how they will most likely respond to a question before hearing their answer. We anticipate.
I think it’s a bit like the way a photographer observes. They anticipate.
I love to know what makes someone tick. Especially if I hope to document an event and subjects authentically. Stories need to resonate with me. If not, it would feel as if I’m looking through the camera viewfinder at a movie with no words. I want the narration in my head to make me feel the moment even more .
I’m curious. I want to know. I want to know that while Rosario and Rosalia traveled the Sicilian countryside that he sang to Rosalia “nicuzza” – the same song that would be playing in the background a couple of years later when he proposed.
As we talk and share tid-bits in passing – those words will come to mind when I’m photographing. I hope that perhaps it makes me anticipate a moment maybe a few seconds quicker.
A photograph could be made in one thousandth (give or take) of a second. One thousandth of a second of your life will live on forever in a still image. An image that once you see it…it can never be un-seen.
It’s important to me that there is a connection. A connection with the couple, with me, with the story, and finally with the image. There needs to be a reason for me. A cause. Essentially the cause is…the effect.
Being around people who you have a connection with, not just a professional one, is relaxing. There is a certain ease and flow to the conversations, to the day, to demeanor’s…to even the tension in the shoulders and jawline. I believe the experience you have will be reflected in every single picture. Pictures don’t lie.
After the connection is made and a photograph is taken, some how words cease to exist. As they say ‘a picture can say a thousand words’…ironically without really uttering a single one.
Here is hoping we all have the same effect as Rosario and Rosalia had on each other when it comes to the language of love.
The light was ahhhmazing…
Gah!!
A great little spot…
The prettiest lips ever.
Everything about them…sighhhh…
They are so relaxed together…
Hey pretty!
A quick outfit change so they could have a bit of fun!
Rosalia took a running start and did the Jennifer Gray move. Rosario didn’t skip a beat.
How cute are they!?
There is nothing better than laughter…
A fave!
As I was going to expose for a silhouette –
And the end to our play-date…

First of all, these two look absolutely gorgeous together – what a match! These pictures are fabulous! I hope they’re always as happy together as is captured in these precious moments. 🙂 Secondly, I would like to thank them both from the bottom of my heart, being that they moved this beautiful engagement shoot which was originally scheduled for my wedding day, to accommodate me and my husband. Thank you so much, Rosalia and Rosario, for freeing Stacey up that day so that she could be there for us – I truly and deeply appreciate your kindness!! I wish you both a lifetime of bliss!
