I was at CVS the other day and a girl stood in front of me wearing Ugg boots, pajamas and her hair in a messy bun. To top it off she had yesterdays make-up smudged haphazardly under her eyes. Now I’m all for comfort, but I love a bit of an effort too. It made me a bit sad to think that my daughter might walk out of the house one day like that.

I remember sitting on the floor while my mother sat at her makeup table in a full set of electric curlers. She leaned in close to the vanity mirror and applied her eye make-up as I would imagine some artists take their paint brush to canvas.
In mere minutes a metamorphosis occurred. Her posture would change, her eyes glistened and she would smile a bit differently with her pretty pink lips.
It wasn’t just the transformation with the make-up, but also her demeanor. It’s hard to slouch when you’re wearing your favorite outfit, and even harder to not smile when you are feeling confident and beautiful. Make-up isn’t necessarily about what it looks like on the outside, it’s how it makes you feel on the inside.

I am obsessed with brides, their dresses, the glow, and the way their eyes dance when they laugh. I love the way they exude happiness. I wish I could bottle that up.
Since I can’t exactly do that, I wanted to offer an experience that celebrates that feeling. Let’s face it, a wedding day goes by fast and I’m lucky if I get 10 minutes alone with the bride. So wouldn’t it be fun to spend some time twirling and spinning in one of the most beautiful items you will ever own and be able to wear it again before you pack it away forever?

So, I scouted the perfect location, and collaborated with a wonderful make-up artist, Eleana , and we had a fun and fabulous play date with Breanna. We frolicked, we changed up the hair styles, we got creative with different jewelry and some fun accessories.
To make the day even more special, we were able to secure a location that was unlike any I have ever been too. We had the amazing opportunity to be invited by Andy to use his property which was an orchard in full bloom with trees stretching as far as your eye can see. It was absolutely magnificent and it goes on my list as one of my most favorite places I have ever been/seen.
Below is a before and after.
To make it fair – the photo on the right is not edited, it’s straight out of the camera without directional light or a reflector.
Mid-shoot, Eleana was doing her magic!
Breanna, I’ll just say what everyone else is thinking. You’re drop dead gorgeous!
It’s not easy to hold a position, or bend certain ways, or make it all look effortless, but Breanna did just that.
My 6 year old told me not to post this next picture because it was blurry, but that was indeed my intention. Sighhh…I guess they’re right when they say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
The next three images are straight out of the camera. There is a slight cast to them but I love the ethereal feel…
Look at all that pink loveliness…
Happiness!
So sultry…
This shot is way harder than it looks.
After a few tries, I got frustrated and aborted the mission…I ended up really liking what we got though.
We weren’t allowed on the property during the ‘golden hour’ so the entire set we had to make work with harsh sun. A huge, big thank you to Francine and Eleana for helping to hold the scrim and reflectors.
Just as the sun started going down slightly, we got booted from the property because they were closing. We managed to sneak the next few on the walk back to our car.
Sometimes fashion is just fun. Eleana and I had a heck of a time collaborating on a variety of looks. I wish there had been more time. Eleana got extra credit points for using a sash as a head piece.
Gahhh! Stunning…
And last but certainly not least…
Thank you Breanna for being so fun and fabulous!
