Paradise – Mike & Jennifer

When I hopped in my car for the drive I was excited for some time alone just to hear my own thoughts.  I rolled all the windows down…well, actually I didn’t technically roll them down ; )…and turned on the country music.  The engagement session was scheduled on the east end of Long Island, in a house that Jennifer grew up in. ‘Out east’ as in Cutchouge. ‘Out east’ as in ‘I never knew that Long Island was this pretty’.

I was prepared for bumper to bumper traffic on the LIE at 5pm. What I got instead was a stretch of road  that was a bit like paradise to me. Water surrounded the road ways begging  for your car to pull over for a quick peek. The architecture of some of the old farm homes and Victorians that lined the road had you daydreaming about days past. It seemed that every town along the way had an adorable Main Street that looked like it would be the perfect  place to grab a quick bite in some lovely cafe or perhaps go antiquing in.   Annnd vineyards…well they don’t call it ‘Long Island Wine Country’ for nothin! Wineries were nestled back to back  – with one looking better than the next! As if that wasn’t enough – I literally had deer frolicking in front of my car,  jumping split rail fences. It was un-believable!!

When I finally arrived and was pulling into their driveway I heard Jennifer’s enthusiastic voice bellow from inside…’are you ready to have some fuuuun?’  Seconds later Jennifer greeted me in a fabulous dress along side Mike, and we headed on over to the vineyard across the street. Yes, the vineyard was her neighbor!    How lucky can one girl get?!  Between Mike as her fiance, the weather holding out and the gorgeous area…luck and paradise were definitely on Jennifer’s side.

Here is hoping we all get just as lucky finding paradise every day in our own ‘backyard’…or better yet being able to notice it when it’s there.

Thanks sooo much Mike and Jennifer for showing me around your neck of the woods. If it wasn’t for you both, I’m not sure if I would have noticed all that Long Island has to offer…beyond the high taxes! lol
